There were a lot of places in the city Xander could take her, honestly. He knew lots of people around the area, a lot of businesses had understandings with him–he kept the lowlifes out of them, he could eat for free, or use the washers, whatever. He didn’t take advantage of that, though, never ate more than he needed, never brought in a truckload of stuff to wash or tailor, whatever. Never took  more kindness than he thought he deserved. Shivering as hard as she is, he still notices the nod. 

“Dunno, you hungry? Or just want to sit and chill somewhere?” He pushes off the wall and stands in front of her, blocking the sun with his head so she can see him without squinting. “I don’t have anywhere I need to be.”
