He knew he couldn’t take the girl very far, she’d scream, she’d probably bite, and people would think he was kidnapping her. None of that was anything either of them needed. She was fighting back, a little at least, that was a good sign for her. Made her more interesting than giving her a twenty and letting her to the streets again. 

Ooh, she had a temper, too. She kinda reminded Xander of one of his friends. “You never know, kid, some people do.” He had, once. He was smirking at her, which probably was only going to piss her off more. “Your technique’s shit,” blunt, since she was being blunt. “Even if I didn’t know what I was feeling for, I felt you.” 

He stuck out his hand to her, loosening his grip with the other hand, but not ready to let go quite yet. Not til she’d heard him out. “I’m Xander. You shake my hand and make nice, I’ll teach you how to not suck at swiping shit from people’s pockets over whatever food you want.” He was fully expecting her to spit in his hand instead of shake it, but he could deal with it. He’d sure as hell had worse.
